Consortium on Financial Systems & Poverty
CFSP, IMF, World Bank to examine issues in developing countries
The Consortium on Financial Systems and Poverty, jointly with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the UK Department for International Development, will host a conference titled, "Financial Deepening, Macro-Stability, and Growth in Developing Countries" at the IMF headquarters in Washington, DC on September 24, 2012.
The conference is intended to provide a forum for discussing research on financial deepening issues in emerging market and low-income countries and to facilitate the exchange of views among researchers and policymakers.
Robert M. Townsend, Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Faculty Director of the Consortium on Financial Systems and Poverty, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. CFSP affiliated researchers, Joseph Kaboski of the University of Notre Dame, and Francisco Buera of the University of California-Los Angeles, will also present a discussion entitled, "The Macroeconomics of Microfinance."

The Consortium on Financial Systems and Poverty (CFSP) is a private research organization of leading and emerging economists. Our goal is to improve the lives of the world's poor and to reduce poverty through helping to identify, design, and implement more efficient financial systems.
